Don't Look Back And Looking Forward To Perth

Paul, Steven, and Derek spent a couple of days down at Newmarket this week for the July Sale, and after covering many miles up and down the Tattersalls hills, they managed to pick up Don’t Look Back, a three-year-old gelding from the Richard Hughes yard. By Oasis Dream out of a mare called Ronaldsay, Don’t Look Back is certainly bred for the job as he is a full brother to Royal Ascot winner Gale Force Ten. Trained by Aidan O’Brien, Gale Force Ten was also twice placed at Group One-level and now stands as a stallion in Sweden. Whilst unlikely to reach those heights, we hope Don’t Look Back can be a solid Flat handicapper who has the option of going hurdling around the likes of Perth and Musselburgh. This morning we had a small 'Meet Vinos Morning' for the Tay Valley Chasers. Vinos will run for TVC this summer as he loves right handed tracks and good ground so Perth is right up his street. Sixteen from the club were hosted by Jamie and Tracy and they saw the new three year olds, as well as Vinos, cantering on the carpet gallop. Tay Valley Chasers are a well run club that have a membership cost of just £400 per year. They have lots of racing, days out, and excellent communication from George and we highly recommend membership for any racing fans. Contact TVC HERE

We return to the racetrack with four runners at Perth tomorrow, starting with Southern Girl in the 3m novices’ handicap chase. She has been rather disappointing of late, but the handicapper has given her a chance and her recent schooling has been good.

Lucky Flight and Boy’s On Tour, who contest handicap chases over 2m and 2½m respectively, are both in the same boat; on their best form they would be leading contenders, but they do need to bounce back from recent below-par efforts.

Gripper is our final runner, taking his chance under Patrick in the conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle that closes the card. His light weight will be an advantage and he has each-way claims if able to handle the significant drop back in trip.
