At last, we have runners over jumps with two horses heading down to Uttoxeter today, and plenty of entries for Perth next week.
El, Derek, and Stephen left Kilduff at 4 am this morning with Magnum and Destiny Is All as COVID restrictions have resulted in no overnight stays at the racecourses.
Magnum faces a stiff two mile novice hurdle at 12.15 pm but we feel that he has improved for his summer break and the form of his second place at Musselburgh on his debut has been franked with the third placed horse winning on the flat subsequently. We really like Magnum as a horse for the future; he has scope to jump a chase fence and while today is not his final aim, I think that he will run a solid race.
The penny dropped for Destiny Is All over fences last time and I think that he can build on that run. A good moving type he should be happier on the good ground and we will know more about his ideal distance after today's run at 1.15 pm.
Meanwhile, at home the work continues; the final batch of horses, those looking at September starts, are finishing their stamina work at Kilduff and will head to Arlary next week. Coming back to Kilduff will be our Perth entries who will have a school on grass over the hurdles and fences.
We are making plans for our owners who will have runners at Perth next week; at the moment only two owners are allowed per horse and all owners have to complete the COVID course and a healthcheck which is eminently sensible. However, we are looking in to hospitality for those who will not go into the racecourse, and will be in contact with all our owners about this.
