Fast Ground And Carlisle

It was pretty fast ground at Kelso yesterday and when Pulpitarian found it too quick we took out our other two runners who really need good to soft. We have had such a dry month and there are plenty of other opportunities for the young horses.

We had a good morning on the yard with lots of trotting round the fields to freshen up our imminent runners, and some jumping in the school for the young horses. Pictured is one of yesterday's non runners, Deepsand, striding out up the woodchip.

We were joined by sixty students from Holland who are all studying animal husbandry. There is no racing in Holland but they have an excellent sports horse studbook and I was impressed by the students' interest in the way that we get horses fit.

Jaimie and Mark have had a busy day driving, dropping three horses off at the vets to have wind operations, picking up a new ex French chaser, Argentix, who Anthea Morsehead has been pre-training, and taking Morning Time to Carlisle to race.

Morning Time is back to himself at home and we were a little despondent with his run at Hexham last time. Hopefully, the return to hurdles this evening will suit him, and Alex takes off some pounds from his light weight.
